I am in the privileged position of being Principal at Kereru Park Campus. I am a very passionate educationalist and have been in the profession for over 25 years. During this time I have taught in a variety of schools in the Primary sector ranging from junior to senior classes as well as in bilingual and total immersion Maori units. I have also held senior management positions as a Deputy Principal in a number of schools.
I have also taught in a number of schools over seas where I taught in London England for seven years as well as South Korea and Thailand. This experience made me appreciate home even more and also highlighted what an excellent education system we have in Aotearoa.
As a life long learner I am still involved in study. I have completed my postgraduate diploma in Educational Leadership and Management and have just completed my Te Ara Reo Level 5 Diploma in Te Reo Maori. I have just completed my first year of my Bachelor in Maori Performing Arts which is a three year course. I would encourage everyone to continue their learning journeys and look at avenues that will increase your knowledge base and opportunities for employment in the future.
I have a beautiful Whanau. My Wife Tania is currently studying for a Bachelors Degree in Teaching Kura Kaupapa Maori at Te Wananga o Takiura in Royal Oak and starts her final year in 2017. We have a young son Nathan who starts year 3 in Te Mahuri and our beautiful daughter Te Aroha who begins her Year 2 year in Te Mahuri this year.
