KPC Girls Club has been established for our Y6-8 girls and is lead by Whaea Kim and Whaea Ashleigh. Girls Club is an opportunity for the girls at KPC to come together fortnightly after school and spend time together. It is a chance for Whaea Kim and Whaea Ashleigh to encourage them and to spend time with them doing things girls enjoy doing.
We want to provide a safe and supportive environment for the girls, and a chance for them to take part of activities they might not necessarily get an opportunity to do. Whaea Kim and I have created a programme that incorporates our passions; food, exercise, art, the outdoors, and Zumba. As the sessions occur – we hope the girls will build confidence in their abilities, and delight in the new challenges we put in place for them.
We hope they will try things they wouldn’t usually try, and take on the challenges with pride. Integrated into the programme will be the 3 school values – these are Integrity, excellence and Confidence. In order for the programme to be student-led we have taken ideas from the girls as to what they would like the programme to consist of.
Last week we all enjoyed a bush walk, picnic and swim at Totara Park, incorporating whakawhanaungatanga with exercise and nutrition.
